Mrunmayee Deshpande is an Indian actress, known for her work in Hindi as well as Marathi cinema. She is a multipotentialite in the sense that she is an actor, director, dancer and anchor too.
Mrunmayee Deshpande was born on Sunday, 28 May 1988 (age 33 years; as of 2021) in Solapur, Maharashtra and brought up in Pune. Her zodiac sign is Gemini. She did her schooling at Renuka Swaroop High school, Pune and she graduated from Sir Parashurambhau College also known as SP College, Pune. Mrunmayee Deshpande belongs to a Maharashtrian family. Her father’s name is Vivek Deshpande and her mother’s name is Pratibha Deshpande.
Her sister Gautami Deshpande is an engineer turned actor, known for her Marathi serial Majha Hoshil Na on Zee Marathi.
Marathi Mulgi Mrunmayee got married to businessman Swapnil Rao on Saturday, 3rd December 2016 at Pune in a traditional Marathi wedding ceremony. Her husband is a Permaculture Designer.
Mrunmayee’s debut in Marathi Industry was in the year 2007. She played the role of Dandekar’s daughter in the movie It’s Breaking News. Next year, she appeared in her first Bollywood movie Humne Jeena Seekh Liya.
She went ahead and gave applaudable performances in numerous Marathi films such as Fatteshikast (2019), Shikari (2018), Bogda (2018), Farzand (2018), Natsamrat (2016), Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015), Sata Lota Pan Sagla Khota (2014), Aandhali Koshimbir (2013) and Ek Cup Chya (2009). She can be seen in another Bollywood film The Power (2021) as Ratna Thakur.
Mrunmayee Deshpande bagged her first tv serial Agnihotra in 2007 which aired on Star Pravah. She is best known for her leading role as Janki in the Marathi serial Kunku (2012) which was about a small-town girl marrying a middle-aged man and moving to Mumbai.
Mrunmayee also enacted in a Marathi play called A Fair Deal in 2015. Talking about the play in Maharashtra Times, she said that it is a Vivek Bele style drama and she expects people to like it.
Mrunmayee has recently done two web series namely Soppa Nasta Kahi and Mumbai Diaries 26/11, both in the year 2021. She can be seen playing the role of Dr. Sujata Ajawale, directed by the very famous Nikhil Suresh Advani in Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (2021).
Mrunmayee Deshpande has also tried her hand in directing. She is the director of Mann Fakiraa (2020) and Manache Shlok (2021).
Mrunmayee Deshpande has even hosted Marathi singing shows. She was the anchor of Yuva Singer Ek Number (2019) on Zee Yuva. She has also hosted the popular Marathi singing show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi L’il Champs (2021) on Zee Marathi.
She can be seen hosting a comedy show Comedychi bullet train on Colors Marathi.
