Harishankar Reddy is a professional Indian cricketer, who represents Andhra Pradesh in domestic cricket. The right-arm fast-medium bowler was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the players’ auction ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
Harishankar Reddy was born on Tuesday, 2 June 1998 (age 22 years; as of 2020) in Nagurivandla-Palli village, located in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. His full name is Hari Shankar Reddy Maramreddy. His zodiac sign is Gemini. Reddy has done his schooling at Swetha High School, Chinnamandem, Kadapa. He has done his graduation from a college in Kadapa.

Harishankar hails from an agricultural family. His father’s name is M Ramachandra Reddy, while his mother’s name is Lakshmi Devi. He has an elder brother, who is working in Kuwait.
Hari grew up playing tennis ball cricket in his village. In 2012, at the age of 14, he, along with a friend, went to Kadapa Municipal ground where cricket trials for selection in the district-level under-14 cricket team were going on. Hari tried his luck at the trails and got selected for a summer camp held in Kadapa in 2013. Following his selection, he shifted all his focus to make a professional career in cricket. He played for Kadapa’s under-14 and under-16 cricket teams and then joined ACA Academy Ground in Vizianagaram in 2016. He further improved his bowling after coming under the guardianship of C.D. Thomson, a coach at ACA Academy Ground.
In 2018, Hari was included in Andhra Pradesh’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament. On 11 January 2018, he made his domestic cricket debut for Andhra Pradesh in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Kerala. He finished his maiden domestic match with figures of 4/12 in two overs.
Hari played his first List-A cricket match for Andhra Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Vidarbha. The match was played at SS Cricket Commune stadium on 20 February 2021.
In the players’ auction for IPL 2021, he was purchased by Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings for his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs.
After he was inducted into the CSK squad, the franchise allotted him jersey number 46. He plays with the same jersey number in domestic cricket.

- While telling about their son’s love for cricket in an interview, Harishankar’s parents said that Hari was so enthusiastic about the sport that he used to bunk college to play cricket matches.
- Hari bowled out Mahendra Singh Dhoni during a practice session ahead of IPL 2021, his first season of the cash-rich league. The news of a newcomer uprooting Dhoni’s stump made headlines and brought Hari into the limelight.

- He is the second cricketer after Vijayakumar, a former Deccan Chargers player, to get selected in the IPL from the Kadapa district.
